Torque Analysis via 4-Bar Linkage

Conception to Results:
This quick project is an example of how I enjoy using modeling to deeper understand physical limits and behavior. In this particular case, I am working in Solidworks with a tutorial written by Dr. Enrique S. Gutierrez-Wing to enhance my understanding of how assemblies enable us to analyze motor torque, and motion paths. I draw on insights from this and other modeling studies like it in my other projects, including ensuring dimensional accuracy and alignment for my 3D cutter. With a deeper understanding of how degrees of freedom affect torque, I am better able to pro-actively avoid over or under constraining assemblies. Via early modeling, I am able to cut back on later testing and correction later when I create my physical prototypes and projects. While this example project is relatively basic, undertaking modeling projects like it further my understanding of how CAD assembly mates work, and how in combination, they can be used to save time studying performance of parts before they are manufactured.
